National Poet of Wales, Gillian Clarke invests in Awel

It’s nearly the end of our share offer for Awel, but there’s still time to invest. We’ve had an incredible response, which demonstrates how much people want to support clean energy.

In under two weeks we’ve received investments from many, many people, raising nearly £400,000 towards two wind turbines on Mynydd y Gwrhyd. Thank you to all of you.

We’re also delighted to have the support of National Poet of Wales, Gillian Clarke, who says “This is the way power generation should go, village by village, community by community, water turbines, wind turbines, with all profits going back to the people”.

And Welsh rugby legend Paul Thorburn has also endorsed the scheme saying “This is a fantastic, co-operative way of taking action on climate change in the run up to the UN conference in Paris. One member, one vote. It’s an opportunity to share ownership of Welsh wind”.

It’s been a busy and exhausting fortnight, but we are moved by the huge support of so many people towards Awel Co-op. We’re keeping the share offer open until midnight on the 26th November (payment by bank transfer), so if you know anyone who might be interested in investing, there’s still time.

  • Shares available from £50
  • Projected 7% rate of return – plus claim EIS (30%) tax relief if applied for before midnight on the 26th November via bank transfer
